Quench Your Thirst Like a Damn Boss: 3 Water Projects to Elevate Your Daily Water Game
Sick of the same ol' plain water that tastes about as exciting as watching paint dry? Well, buckle up, because we're about to turn that H2O into a freakin' fiesta. Today, I'm throwing three projects your way that'll spice up your hydration game like never before. Not all of these are necessarily for “drinking” but these are all super simple and fun tricks to level up plain ol’ water. Get ready for infused water that packs a punch, simmer pots that'll make your house smell like heaven, and ice cubes that are cooler than cool. 😎🧊
Infused Water 🧃
So, you want to kick your water up a notch? Forget about squeezing citrus like a lemon-wielding maniac. We're doing it differently. Grab an orange, some fresh thyme, and hell, if you're feeling extra frisky, a few drops of doTERRA lemon essential oil. But don't you dare squeeze that citrus into the water like a rookie. We are making infused water, not watered-down juice. Nobody wants to drink that. 🤢 Cut your fruit or citrus up into big pieces and simply toss it in the pitcher. The prime time to enjoy your water is around 24 hours after you put together the water and for a couple of days to a week after. If you need the water to be ready sooner than 24 hours, just throw some more citrus into the water!
Simmer Pot 🥘
Simmer pots are the mood-setters of hydration, especially when you're jonesing for a spicy fragrance kick but don’t want the synthetic blends that big box grocery stores sell. 🥴 Screw tradition. You often see simmer pots in a pot on a stove, but we're throwing that simmer pot in a crock pot to keep the good vibes flowing all day. The problem I find with simmer pots on the stovetop is that the water evaporates too quickly and you have to continuously fill the pot throughout the day. I've found that making a simmer pot in a small crock pot helps with that. Apples, oranges, lemons, Frasier fir, cinnamon sticks, star anise – go nuts. Literally, anything goes. Got some citrus or herbs that are on their deathbed? Toss 'em in the simmer pot instead of the trash. And if the pot's not hitting right away, add in a couple of essential oil drops. I love utilizing simmer pots during the fall & winter months especially when I’m craving a warm, spicy scent, but these can be used all year round depending on what you decide to add to your pot. Goodbye, toxic fragrance companies; we're DIY-ing our scent.
Custom Ice Cubes 🧊
Ice cubes are the unsung heroes of hydration, and we're about to give them the makeover of a lifetime. Ice doesn’t have to be just frozen water. Sprinkle herbs into the mold, add some more citrus, or drop some fresh fruit juice into the mold. I went for a beet orange juice, and let me tell you, these ice cubes turned out freakin’ fabulous. The juice separated to create an ombré effect and boy those ice cubes look good in a glass of water. But that being said, you can toss 'em in plain water, the infused water you made from Project One, or your homemade mocktail – it's all about setting the vibe, baby! Need some mocktail ideas?
