How To Make Lasting Lifestyle Changes

The transformation is realllllll.

I’ve lost almost 100 pounds…

But I didn’t just wake up one day and tell myself I was going to do that. I would’ve thought I was crazy to think that losing 100 pounds was possible with the way I was living.

That’s the key. The way I was living.

I needed to make a lifestyle shift, but anytime I’d try to change before nothing would work and I would revert back to old ways.

Maybe you’re reading this wondering if lasting change is even possible?

That ex you’re thinking of taking back because they’ve been going to therapy…

That “new year, new me” diet that you’re starting…

That promise you made to yourself when you turned 25 that xyz would happen by the time you turned 30… Now you’re 31 and… Well you know the rest.

Maybe you’ve been unsuccessful in the past, but I’m here to tell you that lasting change is possible. A new lifestyle with deep joy and fulfillment is right around the corner and I can’t wait to watch you succeed.

Because I don’t want what happened to me to happen to you. When I was in the thick of my old, toxic lifestyle I became so sick in my body. This happened because I was more focused on immediate pleasure and gratification than I was in tune with my own body and listening to the signals it was trying to give me. I was literally rotting from the inside out. Literally.

For years I struggled with Candidiasis. It's a fungal infection caused by yeast (a type of fungus) called Candida, largely fed by sugar/carbohydrates and exacerbated by stress. My diagnosis really peaked in high school and started presenting on my skin through rashes starting from 2016-2020. However, through dietary changes and supplementation from functional health professionals, I was able to dramatically reduce my symptoms and heal my gut.

Now that I’ve been through the ringer, you don’t have to because I’ve found an easy way to make lasting lifestyle changes. You’ve probably heard my advice before because personal development tips just get cycled around and it’s really about the delivery and the timing, so hopefully you’re ready to receive my tips. ⤵

Don’t do absolutes.

This is something I kept trying on and it kept busting at the seams. I learned that my brain, and most others too, don’t work in absolutes. When you tell someone they can’t have something ever again, all of a sudden that thing is all they crave, right? Like, “Sally, you can never eat a PopTart again,” and even though Sally hasn’t had a PopTart since she was 9, now all of a sudden she’s racing to the store to buy one.

So I changed the strategy away from an “all or nothing” mentality to cutting back for the time being.

When I was letting go of alcohol, I didn’t tell myself one Tuesday afternoon that I’d never drink again. Instead, I challenged myself to no alcohol for a week, a couple weeks, then a month, then a couple months, and now I’m 2 years alcohol free and the journey to get here was a lot less daunting than if I had told myself I could never have alcohol again.

Break it down to smaller categories.

This strategy was insanely helpful for me. I knew I wanted to make massive changes in my life all around. From diet to mentality to low-tox and relationships. However, when I looked at all those things at once it felt freaking paralyzing because it felt like every aspect of my life needed to do a 180, but how could I possibly tackle it all?

Instead, I broke it down to bite size pieces and mastered one area before moving onto the next. And here’s the best part. When you start taking care of yourself in one area, odds are, that transformation will carry over to other areas as well.

Wanna go low-tox with your beauty and household products? Easy. This will also get you thinking about the ingredients that are in the food products that consume your pantry.

Wanna create more deep and meaningful relationships, but struggle because of a lack of confidence? Great. As you clean up your diet, you’ll start to get your sparkle back and will feel so much confidence that initiating a conversation with a new friend will be a breeze.

Odds are, you won’t have to look at each area of your life individually, rather if you start working on the bite size parts that are highest priority, many areas of your life will change, too.

You can keep promises to yourself and lasting change is possible. Let’s get deeper into it in my recent YouTube video below. 💻
